Today’s Essential Mix featured the prolific powerhouse producer known as Hervé. Taken from the BBC website: “Two hours of house, electro, dubstep, jungle, drum & bass and all points in between from The Count, aka Hervé. He’s the man behind Cheap & Cheaper Thrills Records. He’s just collaborated with DJ Sneak on ‘Droppin’ Kisses’ for CR2 and has his Ghetto Bass CD dropping this month. Listen out for remixes and refixes on the likes of Lily Allen, The Prodigy, Metallica, La Roux and Fake Blood. “

Here are two remixes of huge rock anthems. The is first remix is by two of my favorite producers right now Bass Weazal and Mikey Hook who mash down The Killers‘ track Mr. Brightside. The second is a Feed Me (aka Spor) remix of the Muse smasher Knights of Cydonia. I’ve been sitting on both of these for awhile, I’ve had my fun, now its your turn.
I’ve been really feeling this jackin, bassline, fidget sound lately and here is a track by Stupid Bastard on Bombsquad Records that does not dissapoint.
DJ Jeroenski’s track Back Once Again is remixed by the man behind Wearhouse Music and all around fidget god Lee Mortimer. I don’t know how this guy cranks em out, but he does. This tune has got some sick vocal samples chopped up better than some guy on Iron Chef. Large!
One of the best producers out there right now, Miles Dyson, graces us with another amazing house-breaks-electro stomper remix Rubber Man. I can’t count the number of releases hes had or gigs hes booked for in 2009 because there are to many. This guys kills it and this track has dominated the dancefloor more than once for me.
Clever Bit’s self titled debut release on Bounce House Recordings is the hottest shit I have up my sleeve right now. Raf and Poldek (a.k.a. Clever Bits) ) are Toronto-based dance music producers who have been lurking in the shadows of Toronto music scene for the past few years. Although they’ve been known to mess around with many different styles of electronic music, they found a clever combination of funky-jackin’ house and UK bassline house (spiced up with bits of everything in between), to be their ultimate weapon of choice. This track is just that, a fat fuckin jackin house line with an equally gnarly bassline laced with rhodes keys samples all chopped up and compressed to 128 for your listening pleasure.
Rudder does it again with this absolutely sick remix of Calvertron and Banga’s track Whoop. Rudder always comes correct with phat fidget lines and a mashup of genres within one track. This time its massive bass, old school breaks, and a disgusting half speed breakdown. Straight gangster.
This is the first Laylow and Twitch exclusive from our friends Australia Is An Island. You can find AUIAI in one of three places: court-side at a New York Knicks game, rocking out to a crowd of scantily clad young women, or hard at work in the studio. From the sound of of their newest track ‘Club Rat,’ you can tell that they have been busy little devils. No strangers to the electronic scene, AUIAI is comprised of Dubchi and Kuato. They make noisy electro music with fat basslines. Drop this track and you’ll have all the club rats up in the booth. Prepare to get tropical!
Here are three different remixes of Katy Perry’s song ‘I Kissed A Girl.’ The first one is a dubstep ball crusher from Rusko, which is unreleased and featured in his Essential Mix. The second comes from the boys of Boston Hot Pink Delorean, who remix the song into a nice electro roller. The third remix is a drum and bass tune done by Receptor from The Russian Federation, who has a few solid bootlegs under his belt. Three different mixes, three different genres.
