I Hope My Boyfriend Don’t Mind It

Here are three different remixes of Katy Perry’s song ‘I Kissed A Girl.’  The first one is a dubstep ball crusher from Rusko, which is unreleased and featured in his Essential Mix.  The second comes from the boys of Boston Hot Pink Delorean, who remix the song into a nice electro roller.  The third remix is a drum and bass tune done by Receptor from The Russian Federation, who has a few solid bootlegs under his belt.  Three different mixes, three different genres.

Dem Na Like Me

Subscape is no n00b.  Quality releases on heavyweight labels such as Sub Way and Dub Police prove that he is here to stay.  His remix of The Qemist’s ‘Dem Na Like Me’ is due out in 10 days so preview it here now before you pick up it off Amazon.  Great tune with a nasty bassline and nice guitar samples.  Definitely a smasher.

Out In the Streets…

One of the most important PC games of all time and a foundation to my modern gaming abuse, Commander Keen, as a title turns 19 this year.    In other news, Dopefish (from CK Episode 4: Secret of the Oracle) drops a brand new EP on Dopefish Audio.  Three remixes of the classic track Jamrock by Damian Marley do not disappoint.  There is something for everyone with a breaks, fidget, and dubstep mix of the song.

DL: Dopefish – They Call it Murder (Hungry Jack in the House Mix)

Give Me One Good Reso!

Reso is one of my favorite dubstep producers.  Here are two tracks from the man.  ‘If Ya Can’t Beat Em’ was released earlier this month and his remix of Mike Lennon’s track ‘Brass Eye’ is an older track but still very wicked.  As a side note, be on the look out for Mike Lennon’s remix of Bar 9’s track ‘Murda Sound’ to be relased in early 2009!

Can you hear Zee music?

I definitely want to give Z Audio a nod here, because they are experts on releasing a variety of musical styles.  They have put out drum and bass, house, breaks, and dubstep all under the Z Audio stamp.  That is something you don’t see very often with labels.  Released back in November, the ‘Coming to Represent Part 1 EP’ features dubstep smashers from label wonderboys Hektagon, Bar 9, Quantum Soul, and Riskotheque.  Hektagon and Bar 9 throw down two diesel bangers with Quantum Soul and Riskotheque pitching in some bassy rollers.

DL: Bar 9 – Bakin Bread

DL: Hektagon – Finders Keepers

DL: Quantum Soul – Babylon Keep Down

DL: Riskotheque – Def Disco

Saxon Massif!

chasestatus

The sound quality of this track isn’t great because it was ripped from a live show.  However, the track itself is awesome.  This is still unreleased but I wanted to share it because it is something I am eagerly awaiting to become available to the public.  Chase & Status are as good at producting dubstep as they are at drum and bass.  A sure floorburner here.

Chasing the Dragon

opium

The first tune ‘Opium’ is a great example of a tune that is completely blurring the boundaries between genres.  This type of creativity is something I always look for and love to stumble across randomly when selecting music.  With ‘motherfucking Rudder on the remix,’ the tune mashes bassline, electro, and dubstep into one six minute saga.  Rudder has been making big moves in the past year and their twisted and goofy style of house music (proudly referred to as “Drunken House”) is a refreshing change, and is guaranteed to have you dancing with a smile on your face, and a drink in your hand.

DL: Calvertron – Opium (Rudder Remix)

I’ll post a brand new Calvertron remix as well since we are on the subject.  Dirty Freek does the duty here, using samples from the track ‘Can’t Deny It’ by Fabolous and Nate Dogg.  Its pretty sick, and keep your eyes open for upcoming releases from DF.

DL: Calvertron & Kieran Brindley – Click Click (Dirty Freek Remix)

If you like them, please purchase both of these tracks on Beatport.

Android Funk

This is an excerpt from Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s Notes from Underground:

…. And what is it that civilisation softens in us? The only gain of civilisation for mankind is the greater capacity for variety of sensations—and absolutely nothing more. And through the development of this many- sidedness man may come to finding enjoyment in bloodshed. In fact, this has already happened to him. Have you noticed that it is the most civilised gentlemen who have been the subtlest slaughterers… In any case civilisation has made mankind if not more bloodthirsty, at least more vilely, more loathsomely bloodthirsty.  … Now we do think bloodshed abominable and yet we engage in this abomination, and with more energy than ever. Which is worse? Decide that for yourselves. They say that Cleopatra (excuse an instance from Roman history) was fond of sticking gold pins into her slave-girls’ breasts and derived gratification from their screams and writhings. You will say that that was in the comparatively barbarous times; that these are barbarous times too, because also, comparatively speaking, pins are stuck in even now; that though man has now learned to see more clearly than in barbarous ages, he is still far from having learnt to act as reason and science would dictate.

+22 comes correct with a thick android funk-dub-glitch-step remix of DJ Haitian’s Far From Having Learned.  The refix sounds like dubstep being pulled through razor wire.  Very heavy business here.
